CRP/K Mission

CRP/K’s aim is to support the identification of durable solutions, return of internally displaced persons and reintegration of returnees. CRP/K’s activities endeavor to solve the legal obstacles for return and integration through legal counseling and legal assistance. The provision of information on the possibilities for return and reintegration assists internally displaced persons in making a well informed decision on whether and when to return.

Facilitating access to legal institutions and public services is enhancing the protection of the individual’s civil rights. Assisting with the most pressing legal issues related to return and integration, such as property rights, access to services, pension and employment rights and the provision of vital documents, the risk of (further) displacement is reduced and (re-) integration simplified.

Through experience and day-to-day work in the field, CRP/K identifies legal issues that have remained unaddressed or without sufficient solution, and brings these to the attention of accountable local and international institutions. CRP/K contributes to building capacities and structures for addressing issues of concern to displaced persons, returnees, minority communities, and extremely vulnerable local residents. Through legal counseling on a wide range of legal issues, CRP/K contributes to the facilitation of access to public services for our target populations and to the realization of their rights as citizens of Kosovo.

An additional aspect of CRP/K’s activities is its aim to provide an impact on policies, legislation, rule of law and practices among Kosovo institutions dealing with various relevant issues that affect our target groups. Through its permanent activity and advocacy work, CRP/K contributes to fundamental changes in policies. CRP/K legal advisers advocate against the abuse of property rights, discriminative and arbitrary application of the law. The same strategy is applied concerning other specific issues, such as re-registration of minorities, immovable properties before the Immovable Property Right Registry and Private Residential Property, including Commercial and Agricultural Property Restitution.
